“I still have a lot to recover, but I’m getting there!”

As we head towards the Snetterton BTCC weekend, Alexandra Marinescu looks back at her latest set of test sessions in the British Formula 4 car.

Along with a handful of other British F4 drivers, she took part in a two day test at Rockingham to help her get to grips with the car before – fingers crossed – returning at Snetterton to finish what she started in 2015.

“They’ve (test sessions) been much better than expected. In one of the sessions at Rockingham I was actually 0.5 seconds away from the others, which was quite good.”

Still showing the skill she had in 2015, Alexandra wasn’t far off the pace compared to the other drivers she was testing with – who have had substantially more time in the car than she has.

“Well, considering that the others have half of season in front of me, I still have a lot to recover, but I’m getting there!”

Test sessions can be just as hectic as race weekends with plenty of data to go through. But, in Alexandra’s case, getting used to the car is more of a priority than being the fastest on the circuit.

“Last week the first test day at Snetterton, where I was quite off the pace but at least I got used to the car. The second day was at Rockingham, where I immediately liked the circuit. And this week I had one day at Rockingham and another one at Brands Hatch Indy, theyboth went really well. I kept improving my lap time each session, so that’s the important part.”

As mentioned previously, Alexandra is looking to compete in the second half of this years British Formula 4 championship.

“We are still discussing with the sponsors, we haven’t signed anything yet. We should have some answers in the following days.”

Be on the lookout for those answers as we wait to see if Alexandra gets her seat in British F4.
